BARBARA PIZZALA recruits engineers and scientists for a
local high tech company and is one of those rare people who loves
her job, runs every other morning even if there is snow and ice,
somehow managing to get out of a warm bed to do so. She teaches
leadership and team building as part of her job and has lead a
weekly women's support group outside of work. [TOP]

Tom Hammer |
TOM HAMMER is a school counselor in an elementary school in Chester, PA and was a high school physics and math teacher and middle school counselor. He has led men's groups and a support group for people with AIDS and has training in community organizing.
Tom spent his honeymoon (first marriage) at Woodstock, which was his only claim to fame according to many of his students. His most infamous physics demonstration was probably lying on a bed of nails (very little blood was involved.) He loves to travel, go out to dinner, watch and discuss movies, and talk about current events. He reluctantly exercises regularly. Favorite places to travel have been Italy, Colorado, and the Grand Canyon, where he barely survived two trips down the rapids in a wooden boat. Tom spent a year living in community in Maine and apprenticed as a carpenter. The house he helped restore continues, somehow, to stand to this day. He has a dog, a rescue from the SPCA, which loves all people and other dogs, strangers or friends. Tom's latest project is, belatedly to learn Spanish.
Barbara and Tom have over nineteen years of training and experience in peer counseling. They have three children, 25, 26, and 30 [TOP]
Although HOWARD PORTER's exploits include hiking the rim
of a volcano, appearing in a Civil War movie (a rather spiffy
looking honor guard to Gregory Peck who gave the Gettysburg
Address), accepting a dare from his son to pet a nurse shark in the
Caribbean and generating a round of gunfire from the Sandinista army
for pointing a camera in the wrong direction, lately Howard Porter
seems a bit more mild mannered. For a day job Howard directs the
Alliance for Better Housing, a community development corporation in
the more northerly lattitudes of Kennett Square. As a do-gooder
developer, Howard brings some land development and real estate
finance skills to the group having learned well some things not to
do. When he's not sipping overpriced coffee at a local coffee shop
hoping someone will join him to talk cohousing, Howard likes to ride
bikes, play accoustic guitar, downhill ski, promote the Turtledove
folk club events, and point and shoot his camera at more cooperative
subjects. Howard claims to be "outgoing and upbeat-at least on a
good day". He also considers himself a cornbread chef, a claim that
the cohousing members will have to confirm or deny. [TOP]
